4 suspects killed, 2 escape as police foil robbery in Eldoret

Police in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, on Monday morning foiled an armed robbery and fatally shot four suspects in a dawn shootout along the Eldoret - Kiplombe road.
The incident happened shortly after midnight at Greenfield Junction when officers acting on intelligence intercepted six men dressed in military-style attire who were robbing members of the public.
According to police, the suspects opened fire when they were stopped. Police returned fire, killing four. Two others escaped with gunshot wounds, and a manhunt is ongoing.
Police believe the gang is behind a string of robberies in Kitale, Kapenguria, Nandi, Marakwet and Eldoret.
Recovered at the scene were a loaded pistol, breaking tools, mobile phones and ropes.
The bodies have been moved to the MTRH morgue as police intensify such searches for escapees.
