3 accused of stealing cows in Baringo fail to raise Ksh.1M bond, moved to Nakuru prison

An Eldama Ravine court slapped a Ksh. 1million bond and surety of the same amount on three out of six suspects arraigned over theft of two dairy cows.

The three were transferred to GK Prisons Nakuru after they failed to raise the bond.

The theft is alleged to have taken place at Kamurwa village, Tugumoi location in Koibatek sub-county in Baringo.

The court was told that between that between the nights of April 9-10, 2020, the suspects stole two Friesians and Ayrshire Dairy cows belonging to Mike Sargutta.

Two suspects were arrested at Kipkelion, Londiani in Kericho County while trying to sell one Friesian cow only.

The second cow was later recovered at Kamara in Nakuru county and another suspect arrested.

They were arraigned before Magistrate Alice Towett but denied the charges.

Three other suspects are said to be assisting police with investigations into what has been described as a cattle theft syndicate.
