A 14-year-old boy named Brian is nursing injuries after being allegedly assaulted by a priest at St.Peters Catholic Church, Mugango parish in Bomet County.

According to his father, Stephen Rono, Brian was beaten up by the priest for a mistake that is not stated. The priest’s name also remains unknown.

Rono wants answers on why his son was beaten with a club on the head several times.

“I found him on a boda boda, he had been beaten up by father (priest) for a ‘mistake’. If he was wrong, why beat him with a club?” says Rono.

Gilbert Rono, a medical officer at Chelimo hospital, where Brian was taken for treatment, says the boy had visible injuries on the head, hands, and blood clots on his eyes.

“He was in a bad state, with injuries on the head and hands. He was given first aid and is now recovering. His eyes were red, he had soft tissue injuries on the head,” states Rono, who received the boy in hospital on Tuesday evening.

The father now seeks justice after recording statements with authorities in Bomet.
