1000 police officers, 4 water cannons deployed to Ol Kalou ahead of by-elections

In his remarks on Tuesday, Kanja assured Kenyans that the NPS has made necessary adjustments to ensure that the residents of Ol Kalou get to exercise their democratic right in a fair, peaceful and secure environment.
While speaking on the security preparedness for the by-election, Kanja affirmed that a minimum of 2 police personnel have been deployed to all the 114 polling stations in Ol Kalou as per their standard deployment procedure to safeguard voting materials, the voting process and the general security of the stations.
Additionally, Kanja said that he has deployed four platoons of General Service Unit (GSU), Anti-stock theft officers and 4 water cannons in the region.
“Sufficient deployment from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), whose mandate shall focus on intelligence gathering, investigation, arrest and prosecution of any party or individual involved in any electoral malpractice,” added Kanja.
High-octane campaigns in Ol Kalou Constituency drew to a close on Monday, with the leading candidates holding mega rallies in Ol Kalou town to mobilize last-minute support ahead of Thursday's by-election.
Leaders who addressed the rally, among them Nyandarua Senator John Methu and Kajiado North MP Onesimus Ngogoyo, called for a peaceful election.
Also, the Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen assured residents of enhanced security before, during and after the vote.
Kanja has reiterated that the NPS shall remain steadfast during the entire process, guaranteeing the safety and security of the residents of Ol Kalou.
