Woman who ingested tick poison in suicide attempt rescued

A middle-aged woman was on Wednesday evening rescued after attempting to take her own life at Kaptebengwet Shopping Centre in Konoin Sub-County, Bomet County.

The woman is said to have ingested an acaricide, a chemical used to control ticks, before collapsing inside a wooden stall at the trading centre.

Good Samaritans who witnessed the incident rushed to her aid and quickly rushed her to Kapkatet Sub-County Hospital, where she is receiving treatment.

According to eyewitnesses, the woman appeared weak and disoriented moments before she collapsed.

Local authorities have confirmed the incident and called on residents to seek help when facing emotional distress. 

Investigations commenced to  establish the circumstances surrounding the attempted suicide.
