Police in Kitengela, Kajiado County are searching for a woman who allegedly strangled her newborn baby before dumping the body.
The infant's body was found by locals along Prisons road. The incident, which happened early this morning, left residents in shock.
"This baby was delivered by the roadside. It is not the first case this week. On Tuesday, another baby was found dumped in the area," a resident told Citizen Digital.
Cases of newborns being dumped are on the rise in Kitengela, with locals decrying the high cost of living and mental health issues.
"The tough economic times compounded by the biting effects of the COVID-19 pandemic has affected many families," said another resident.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been taken to Kitengela Hospital mortuary.
