Woman arrested for allegedly stabbing husband to death in Elgon View, Eldoret

Police in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County have arrested a woman in Elgon View Estate for allegedly stabbing her husband to death following a domestic row after a night out.
35-year-old Winnie Maina is accused of stabbing 33-year-old Wycliffe Muriithi Miriti who died while undergoing treatment at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.
Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Ayub Gitonga said the accused was arrested by officers from Langas police station.
"A security guard at the estate informed police that the couple arrived at their house from a local pub at around 4.30 am on Monday, August 22, before a fight ensued," Gitonga told Citizen Digital.
The suspected attacker suffered stab injuries. Meanwhile, Eldoret High Court deputy registrar Rosemary Onkoba allowed police to hold the suspect for seven days pending investigations.
The court directed that the suspect undergoes a mental assessment before she is formally charged. The case will be mentioned on August 29, 2022.
