Welder electrocuted to death in Kericho County

Residents in Sondu trading centre in Kericho County are reeling in shock after a welder was electrocuted to death.

Witnesses who spoke to Citizen Digital said the incident, which happened in Sigowet-Soin Sub-County saw the welder electrocuted at his workshop.

Preliminary reports indicate that he came into contact with exposed electric cables from the welding machine.

“He stepped on stagnant water near the workshop. He did not have shoes on at the time,” a resident said.

Locals added that the man was immobilized by the electrocution, before falling dead on the spot.

“Members of the public who witnessed the incident tried to rescue him but he had already succumbed,” another added.

The incident was later reported at Sondu Police Station. Officers rushed to the scene and moved the body to Sigowet-Soin Sub-County Hospital mortuary.
