WANANCHI OPINION: Dear President Ruto, a little less anger and a little more leadership will go a long way
However, this is not time for the president or anyone else in government to be angry.
Nor is it time for them to continue speaking and acting as if they don’t care what the people are saying, even when we know they don’t.
If the government’s body language and its proxies are anything to go by, it appears that the voices of the majority do not matter to them, only their own choices.
It disturbs me that a country whose citizens have been driven to hunger, and subsequently to anger, can reach a point where the response from their leaders is bitterness and anger.
We cannot all be angry and expect our nation to emerge from the current mess.
One of the parties must cool down and listen to the other. Listening doesn’t necessarily mean sitting down with them, but rather observing their behaviors and meeting their demands.
In this case, I mean all, if not most, of them.
Citizens cannot afford not to be angry as their hunger is a result of the bad policies implemented by their leaders.
The only group here that has no choice but to cool down and attend to the people is the leaders, because the mess created has resulted from their failure to impress.
It Is high time the president and his cronies refrain from arrogant speeches to save the nation from its suffering.
This is not the time for phrases like “Enough is enough” and other stories we’re witnessing from the president and his cronies.
The president cannot claim to be implementing what the Gen Z want when he can afford to dismiss Cabinet secretaries only to reappoint the majority of them.
When accountability is demanded, just give it to the maximum.
Anything beyond that increases pressure, as they say!
