Vihiga: Suspected motorbike thief arrested, one on the run

One suspected motorcycle thief has been arrested in Vihiga County, while a search is ongoing for another suspect who managed to escape.

Peter Anaya, vice chairperson of the local bodaboda operators' branch, explained that the arrest resulted from an intensified operation conducted by union members in collaboration with the police.

He noted that the stolen motorcycle was recovered in the Elwanyele area of Chambiti, located within the Lugaga Wamuluma Ward.

“I received a call from colleagues in Kisumu reporting that thieves had robbed a motorcycle operator in the Manyatta area while posing as police officers,” Anaya told Citizen Digital.

He added that the stolen motorcycle was traced to the Mukingi area using its tracking device.

The arrested suspect is currently in custody at the Mbale police station.
