Learning at Bingwa Secondary School in Bomet was disrupted for the better part of Tuesday after students demanded better meals, adding that they wanted meat and pumpkins added to their diet.

School Principal Stanley Rotich, while alerting the police about the unrest, said a section of students was seen mobilizing their colleagues to agitate for their demands, adding that the group said that their meals were bland and needed improvement.

Police officers attached to Siongiroi police station led by Chepalungu sub-county commandant Panton Analo went to the school to restore normalcy.

Analo said the students retreated to their dormitory after seeing the police vehicle entering the school compound.

There was no reported incident of destruction of school property, nor injuries.

Investigations have been launched into the organisers of the unrest.
