Two people have been killed in a road accident at Kaptembwo in Kuresoi South, Nakuru County.
The two died after a lorry carrying poles overturned along the Wechego-Karandit road in Tinet Ward.
Last Friday, residents in the area staged peaceful protests over impassable roads in the area, accusing local leaders, among them area MP Joseph Tonui and MCA Paul Langat, of neglect.
Kapnanda Assistant Chief Peter Korir said that one person died on the spot, another succumbed while receiving treatment, and a third, is currently hospitalized at Molo Sub-County Referral Hospital.
Locals, led by Gilbert Kiprotich, Joel Tuya, and Thomas Rono, criticized the poor state of the roads.
He added that the ill-fated lorry was reportedly overloaded with poles.
Following the incident, residents barricaded the road at Kaptembwo using the poles.
