Truck burns down on the highway

Transport was paralyzed on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway after a truck caught fire.

The incident happened near Bridge 39 area in Athi River, Machakos County.

Regional emergency services officer Francis Nzioki said the fire broke out in the driver’s cabin.

“The lorry was ferrying steel from Mombasa to Nairobi when fire broke out in the driver’s cabin,” Nzioki said.

Officers have cleared the scene, towing the vehicle to a nearby police station.
