Tragedy in Kisii as man's body found hanging from tree in suspected death by suicide

A somber mood engulfed Riomwando 2 village in Marani ward, Kitutu Chache North Constituency, Kisii County, after the body of a young man was discovered hanging from a tree in a suspected suicide incident.

The deceased was found early Wednesday morning near Simba Lodge,  in Marani Ward.

The body was discovered along a footpath by villagers on their way to their farms.

Police from Marani Police Station cordoned off the area before moving the body to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation and post-mortem examination.

While preliminary reports suggest the young man may have died by suicide, authorities have launched a full investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

Community leaders and residents have since called for urgent attention to mental health challenges facing the youth, noting a worrying increase in similar cases across the region.
