Tragedy as student who was set to graduate at KMTC allegedly dies by suicide
Police are investigating an incident where a student who was set to graduate from the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) reportedly died by suicide in Kericho County over unknown reasons.
30-year-old Peter Kipngetich was found dead in his father's rental houses at Chepseon trading centre in Kipkelion East.
“The student was set to graduate from KMTC on Thursday, December 7, 2023. We suspect that he injected himself with an overdose of anesthesia drugs,” police said.
According to police officers, the deceased told his family that he was traveling to Nairobi for his graduation.
“His father, a clinician in one of the hospitals in Kericho, handed him Ksh.15,000 to use in the ceremony,” police added.
He later went to his father's rental houses at Chepseon where he asked for a key to one of the rooms.
“He told the security guard that he wanted to rest in one of the rooms. The guard obliged and gave him the key.”
His body, which was found in the room hours later with a syringe in his arm, was taken to Lipton Central Hospital mortuary.
