Tragedy as good Samaritan gets hand chopped when trying to separate cousins fighting over 'sugar money'

A Form Three student is being held at Kosele Police Station in Rachuonyo South sub-county after he was accused of maiming his cousin during a  fight in Aolo village, East Kamagak location.

The suspect aged 15 used a machete to chop his cousin's left hand. The vicitim is a Grade Seven pupil

Kawere West Sub location Senior Assistant Chief Daniel Odhiambo on Friday said that the suspect was given money  to use to buy sugar but did not do so and when his cousin asked him for the money, he turned on her.

The victim's hand was chopped off while attempting to separate the two who were fighting.

Neighbours who heard the commotion rushed to the scene, only to find the victim writhing in pain. 

He was rushed to Rachuonyo South Sub-county hospital in Oyugis town, as the suspect was taken to the police station.

Rachuonyo South sub county Police Commander Philemon Saera confirmed the incident and said the suspect will remain in custody pending investigations.
