Several families spend night in the cold following fire incident in Homa Bay

Several families spent the night in the cold following a fire incident in Homa Bay town.

The incident happened at Sofia estate on Thursday evening. “Sixteen rental houses were affected,” a witness told Citizen Digital.

Majority of the tenants in the affected structures are students at Tom Mboya University and Kenya Medical Training College Homa Bay Town campus.

Residents are counting losses as they lost their household items among other valuables.

“The fire broke out in one of the houses before spreading to adjacent units,” Arujo Location chief Bob Lang’o said.

The affected families were forced to spend the night in the cold.

No one was injured during the incident as investigations get underway.
