Siaya: Fisherman arrested, homemade gun recovered by police

A 20-year-old suspected thug has been arrested and a homemade gun recovered by police officers at Wich-Lum beach in Bondo, Siaya County.
Fredrick Otieno Oholo, who has been working as a fisherman at Wich-Lum, was arrested following a tip off from other fishermen.
Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo said that the incident was reported at Bondo police station by the area Beach Management Unit (BMU) officials.
"They had spotted one of the fishermen with what they suspected to be a gun," Kimaiyo said.
He stated that officers from Bondo police station rushed to the scene and arrested the suspect.
"The suspect was in possession of a black bag. Upon searching the bag, a homemade gun was recovered," police noted.
Kimaiyo added that the suspect was taken to Bondo police station ahead of his arraignment.
