Shock as thieves break into ACK Church, steal 5 bottles of wine and items worth Ksh. 1 million

ACK Gatwe Church in Kirinyaga county.
According to the Church incharge Rev David Mugo, the thugs went to the office and took keys, and after failing to open the church door, they broke the window and stole church items.
"After entering my office they stole Ksh. 9,500 in cash, which was in my office," Rev Mugo said.
Edward Mugo, one of the members of the church, said he could not believe thieves could drink five bottles of altar wine.
"I could not believe my eyes when I saw items scattered in the church and outside the church at tea farms," Mugo said.
David Kimenju, the church chairman, said the night watchman said he was first tied up by 3 people who broke into the compound.
The church is now appealing to the suspects to return the stolen items
"Unless somebody buys those items for us, we will use drums on Sunday, and it has taken years to buy those items," Muriithi said.
This is the second incident.
On 26th June, Thieves broke into ACK St Mathew's Mutithi church in Mwea-east sub-county, where they drank four bottles of altar wine, ate sacramental bread, and made off with church property
"What is happening with our children? How can they drink altar wine in church?" a resident said.
Detectives have visited Gatwe church, saying investigations have been launched.
