Search operation as boy drowns in flooded river in Homa Bay

A 16-year-old boy tragically lost his life after being swept away while attempting to cross a flooded river in Homa Bay County.

The victim, a Grade 7 pupil from Olasi in Ndhiwa, is the latest casualty of the ongoing heavy rains in the region.

The incident occurred when the boy, a learner at Oridi Primary School, tried to cross the swollen River Ambasa.

According to Area Assistant Chief James Owiti, the boy was accompanied by his two siblings at the time.

Despite their desperate efforts to rescue him, they were unable to save him from the swift current.

The Assistant Chief has appealed to government agencies to step in and assist with the search operation to recover the boy’s body.
