A man was arrested along Nairobi's Eastern Bypass after he walked back into a crime scene while armed.

According to police, the suspect had earlier been involved in a robbery in which occupants of a broken-down vehicle were attacked by two men on a motorcycle and robbed of their mobile phones.

"As police officers responded to the initial report and remained at the location, the same motorcycle returned and dropped off a passenger some distance away," the police said.

The man, unaware of police presence, approached the scene pretending to assist the stranded motorists.

His behavior raised suspicion when he bent ostensibly to fix his shoes. Officers ordered him to stop and raise his hands, which he did without resistance.

Upon searching him, police recovered a Retay Falcon pistol hidden in his sock, loaded with three rounds of 9mm ammunition.

The suspect, aged 19, was immediately taken into custody for further investigations as his accomplice fled the scene.

Police believe the suspect had returned to carry out another robbery.
