Revamped Limuru road opens up a quiet Ndenderu village
Limuru road, a key artery in the quiet Ndenderu community, is already shaping up the little town.
According to residents, the recently revamped road has boosted employment in the area, promoted trade and improved security.
Before its expansion, the road had giant potholes and poorly lit stretches which slowed down traffic – and provided a fertile ground for criminals to harass motorists and pedestrians.
Residents told Wananchi Reporting that the reimagined Limuru road has brought about a feeling of security among the locals.
With wider lanes, efficient traffic management system, and improved street lighting, the road has become a secure and accessible thoroughfare.
The locals concur that commuting at night is no longer a dangerous hustle.
“Things have changed since the road was revamped. Today one cannot differentiate night from day. There’s electricity everywhere,” David Maina, a businessman in Ndenderu told Wananchi Reporting.
“As a trader I can sell my goods until late in the night without any fear,” added Maina.
Ian Igogo, a Tuk-Tuk driver in Ndenderu said his business has been thriving ever since the road received a facelift.
“As a transporter I had for years faced challenges navigating through congested and poorly maintained roads,” said Igogo.
He told Wananchi Reporting that as the road project took shape, so did their fortunes.
Residents are now making efforts to strike a balance between progress and the preservation of community identity.
Meanwhile, the locals are asking the government to revamp other surrounding roads to completely open up the area for trade and development.
