Probe as Mwingi teacher's house torched by unknown assailants

Police in Mwingi are investigating an incident in which unidentified assailants torched a teacher's house, leaving him homeless.

Silvester Mwendwa, who is a teacher in Kitui East sub county, was not injured.

He said that he was at work on Wednesday, when he was called and told his house had been set ablaze.

"I hurried home to try and salvage the situation, but I found the entire house and all my belongings had been razed," Mwendwa said.

He called for justice, saying it was not right that the culprit is still at large.

According to Jamleck Mbai, the assistant chief for Muruana sub-location, Mwingi central sub-county, investigations were launched after the victim reported the incident.

"We are following crucial leads to who might have committed the crime," he said.
