Probe as man accused of killing wife during altercation in Kerugoya

A  42-year-old man from Kerugoya, Kirinaga, has been arrested after being accused of killing his 30-year-old wife.

According to Kirinyaga Central sub-county police commander John Torori,  the suspect, James Muriithi Mugo attacked his wife Peninah  Wambui Mugo during an altercation on Saturday.

Neighbours  said that they heard a commotion and on going to check, they found Peninah had been stabbed in the neck. 

Richard Kibuti, a local, said the suspect is a well-known person in Kerugoya town.

"I was shocked after I heard about what happened," he said.

The Kirinyaga central police boss said the suspect was arrested, adding he had recently been released for selling bhang in Kerugoya.

Peninah's body has been taken to Kerugoya County Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
