Primary school teacher arrested for allegedly defiling pupil

A 46-year-old primary school teacher has been arrested for allegedly defiling a class eight pupil in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County.

The matter was reported to the Kiamutugu police station, and booked under – OB NO /11/21/10/2022.

Gichugu sub-county police commander Mr. Adward Ndirangu confirmed the arrest.

According to the officer, the teacher allegedly lured the 15-year-old girl to his house which is not very far from his teaching station.

“Our investigations have shown that the suspect is also the pupil’s class teacher,” noted Officer Ndirangu – adding that the alleged incident happened on September 30, during lunch time.

“The suspect is being held at the Kiamutugu police station awaiting arraignment in court on Tuesday,” added Mr. Ndirangu.

The girl’s mother told Wananchi Reporting that her daughter voluntarily confessed about the incident.

“She told me that the teacher told her to swallow some two tablets before the act to avoid getting pregnant,” said the mother.

The girl was treated at the Kiamutugu Health Centre.

Gichugu police boss has decried rising cases of defilement in the area.

He advised the locals to report such cases to the police – instead of settling them at home.
