Police seize bhang worth Ksh. 5 million in Thika, suspects escape

Officers on Tuesday said three suspects escaped after the vehicle they were travelling in was stopped and the bhang seized.

Thika Sub-County Police Commander Lawrence Muchangi said officers had gotten a tip off from members of the community and the operation was a joint effort between the police and community policing members.

Officers carried out the operation at Kiganjo Estate — an area notorious for drug trafficking.

The operation targeted a notorious drug baron, who has been on the police watchlist and has previously been arrested on similar charges.

Despite multiple arrests, the suspect has repeatedly secured release through bonds and continues to be a key supplier of bhang in the region.

Police are continuing their hunt for him and have urged members of the public to share information of any suspicious activity.

 The impounded vehicle is being held at Kimuchu Police Post as investigations continue.
