Police raid homestead turned into illegal gas filling station in Ndagani

An illegal gas station operating at a homestead in Ndagani, Chuka Igambangombe constituency, was raided by police and EPRA officers on Thursday evening.

Confirming the incident Tharaka Nithi county commissioner David Gitonga said at least 433 gas cylinders from several companies and stickers were confiscated.

He said that the suspect, whose business name is Baraka, has been operating for almost a year, supplying wholesalers and retailers in the county.

Gitonga said the key suspect fled the scene after getting wind of the raid.

He left his wife and child in the house.

Gitonga urged residents to cooperate with the authorities and forward information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect.

Cyrus Chemboi, an officer from EPRA, noted that the association is carrying out investigations to crackdownon businesses operating without licences.
