One killed, scores injured in accident in Tharaka Nithi County

One person has died following a road accident in Tharaka Nithi County.

The incident happened after the driver lost control of the vehicle along the Meru-Nairobi highway.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, witnesses said the early morning incident saw the vehicle veer off the road.

"One person died on the spot. Several people were rushed to Chuka General Hospital for treatment," Alex Mugambi from the county's fire department said.

Road users have been urged to exercise caution when plying the busy route. Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been taken to Chuka General Hospital mortuary.
