One killed in an accident along Kisumu-Busia highway

One person has died in an accident along the Kisumu-Busia highway.

Siaya County police commander Cleti Kimaiyo said the woman was killed in a hit and run incident at Lolwe area in Gem Yala.

Kimaiyo added that the identity of the deceased, believed to be in her 40s, is still unknown.

Officers from a nearby police station took the body to Yala Sub County Hospital mortuary.

Police added that an identification and postmortem exercise will be conducted at the facility.

The county police chief noted that efforts to trace the driver of the ill-fated vehicle are ongoing.
