Road users plying Jogoo Road and Manyanja Road in Nairobi have expressed frustration over the deteriorating state of the routes.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, pedestrians, motorists, and local businesspeople highlighted the daily challenges they face, intensified by the ongoing heavy rains in the capital.
A spot check by Citizen Digital revealed vehicles wading through stagnant water, illustrating the severity of the situation.
“The journey home from City Stadium to Umoja is a headache, especially with the adverse weather conditions,” a resident commented.
The poor road conditions have compounded other urban challenges such as heavy traffic congestion and have also impacted private vehicle owners, who are now forced to repair their vehicles more frequently.
“This situation exposes the glaring inadequacies of the existing poor drainage system, leading to widespread flooding across the roads,” another resident added.
Residents along the routes have also raised concerns about potential public health risks, noting that such conditions could foster the outbreak of waterborne diseases.
The are now calling for urgent intervention to address the drainage and road infrastructure issues to improve safety and sanitation.
