Multi-agency operation uncovers firearms and narcotics in Moyale

A joint security operation in Moyale led to the arrest of two individuals and the recovery of illegal firearms and a significant quantity of narcotics in the ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks in the border region.

The DCI, in a statement released on Wednesday following the operation, confirmed the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, several rounds of ammunition, and a total of 34 kilograms of bhang. 

The operation was carried out in two separate locations within Moyale Sub-county.

"In Butiye area, security agents arrested Adan Jilo after a search of his home led to the discovery of one AK-47 rifle, a magazine, three rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, and 16 kilograms of Cannabis sativa," said the DCI.

In a similar operation in Odda area resulted in the arrest of Toto Issack Dika. Officers found another AK-47 rifle, a magazine, two rounds of ammunition, and 18 kilograms of bhang at her residence.

The two suspects were taken to Moyale Police Station, where they were held as investigations continue. 

Authorities indicated that the duo will be arraigned once the necessary procedures are completed.

The operation is part of an intensified crackdown targeting illicit arms and drug trafficking routes in northern Kenya.
