A mother of five children from Chepkosa village in Sigor Ward, Chebalungu Sub-county, Bomet County, has been left in shock after unexpectedly delivering triplets at Chelymo Hospital in Silibwet town.
Mercy Kurgat, now a mother of eight, said she is overwhelmed by the burden of raising the newborns alongside her five older children.
The triplets were born prematurely on Wednesday and are currently under observation in the hospital's neonatal unit.
“I thank God for blessing me with these babies, but I don’t know how we will raise them. Life has already been difficult with the five I have,” she said.
Mercy and her husband Wesley Kurgat said they rely on small-scale farming to make ends meet.
"We are struggling to provide food, clothing, and medical essentials for our growing family," Kurgat said.
The hospital staff confirmed the babies are stable but emphasized the need for continued care once they are discharged.
