A widow whose house was set ablaze by a mob is calling for justice amid ongoing accusations linking her to the disappearance of a man in North Sakwa, Awendo Sub-County, three weeks ago.

Caroline Achieng Aboge maintains her innocence, stating that she has no connection to the missing person and has never seen him at her home, contrary to claims made by some locals.

She expressed frustration over the incident, emphasizing her desire to see those involved in the arson arrested and charged in court.

Achieng reported the matter to Awendo Police Station. She disclosed that the local administration, along with police officers, visited the scene, conducted investigations, and took photographs of the burnt house.

The widow shared that she has been staying with a neighbor since her home was destroyed.

She called on authorities to expedite their investigations so she can find justice and rebuild her life.

Her plea for justice was backed by Collins Onyango Awidhi, who urged members of the public to refrain from mob justice and allow the legal process to take its course.

Additionally, Peter Otianga, youth representative in the Luo Council of Elders, who donated building materials to the widow, called on police to expedite their investigations.

He also appealed to the public, especially the youth, to avoid taking the law into their own hands and to support justice and peace in the community.
