Residents of Nyakwere in Nyatike, Migori County are urging the government, through the State Department for Interior and National Coordination, to establish a police post at the local trading centre to bolster security in the area.
Led by Kevin Otieno, the residents emphasized that Nyakwere trading centre is experiencing rapid growth, making it crucial to enhance security measures to support the expanding community and economic activities.
Otieno noted that Nyakwere has become more attractive to investors largely due to the vibrant economic activities, including farming at the Lower Kuja Irrigation Scheme.
He further explained that the trading centre handles a high volume of cash flow, underscoring the urgent need for proper security infrastructure to safeguard residents, investors, and their property.
“The police post will ensure safety, foster economic growth, and maintain peace in our rapidly developing region,” he added.
