Meru: 6-month-old baby found abandoned in maize farm

A six-month-old baby boy has been found abandoned in a maize farm at Kunene Nkomo ward, Tiania West sub-county, Meru county.

The baby was rescued by residents on Monday.

The villagers informed area assistant chief Lucy Kambanja about the incident after hearing the baby crying in the maize plantation.

The baby was found with clothes surrounding him.

Kambanja said preliminary investigations point to the baby having been abandoned by a university student.

Residents condemned the incident, urging mothers, especially young ones, not to abandon their children including in cases where they are single parents.Also parents have been asked to be following up with their daughters behaviors especially when pregnant and even when in schools and advise them acco
