Man arrested for allegedly killing friend over Ksh.50 worth of tobacco

Police in the Likuyani Constituency in Kakamega County have detained a man on charges of killing his friend by striking him with a blunt object.
This is after the two were allegedly involved in a dispute over tobacco worth Ksh.50 in Plot Ten village, located in Seregeya area.
According to a local elder Jacob Mukangai, the suspect, Francis Mushila, told police officers that he killed his friend Vitalis Shidenye, aged 42, after the deceased demanded tobacco that he had sent him to buy several days earlier.
However, the family of the deceased, led by his sister-in-law Jane Khasoha, has denied these claims, stating that the deceased had received some money after selling a piece of land.
They suggested that the suspect may have killed their loved one in an attempt to steal that money.
The family has called for a thorough investigation to be conducted to ensure justice is served.
