Residents in the border town of Malaba in Busia County have called for a clean up exercise.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, locals decried heaps of uncollected garbage along the road.
"The garbage remains uncollected for days. We urge the local authorities to address this," a resident said.
They further urged the relevant bodies to work on the town's drainage system.
"The drainage is in a sorry state. With rains, the roads easily flood, with transportation becoming a headache.
With the busy town connecting traveler into and out of the country, traders called for action to allow a thriving environment for business.
"If we drop the ball, our counterparts on the other side of the border will benefit more from the travelers," a hotelier added.
They pushed for strict measures to help restore the border town's glory as a key business hub in the region.
