A man has been arraigned at the Wang’uru Law Courts in Kirinyaga County over the alleged theft of cash and personal items belonging to the Kirinyaga County Assembly Majority Leader.

The accused, Alex Mwaura Muchiri, appeared before Wang’uru Principal Magistrate Martha Opanga, where he was charged with several offences, including conspiracy to commit a felony and stupefying, contrary to Section 393 of the Penal Code (Chapter 63, Laws of Kenya).

According to the prosecution, the alleged offences occurred on diverse dates between December 13 and December 14, 2025, at Ngurubani Township in Mwea East Sub-county, Kirinyaga County.

In the first count, the court was told that Muchiri, together with others not before the court, allegedly conspired to steal an iPhone 16 Pro Max, a power bank, a wristwatch, a pair of open shoes, and cash amounting to KSh 453,420, all valued at KSh 692,420. The items are said to belong to Benson Waweru Ngahu, the Gathigiriri Ward MCA and County Assembly Majority Leader.

The accused denied all the charges.
