A police officer stationed at the Kianyaga police station in Kirinyaga County on Saturday died in a road accident along the Kutus-Kianyaga road.

According to the Gichugu sub-county Director of investigation Millicent Ochuka, the female officer was driving back to the station around 5pm when her vehicle lost control and rolled several times.

The vehicle is said to have landed in a ditch.

“The officer was rushed to a local hospital after being pulled out of the vehicle. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital,” said Ochuka.

The officer was alone in the vehicle when the accident happened.

“This is shocking to the colleagues of Maggie. It is hard to believe that she is no longer with us,” Ochuka told Wananchi Reporting

Residents living along the busy Kianyaga-Kutus road want clearly marked road signs to be erected to curb accidents in the area.

Police are investigating the incident.
