Kilimani: Residents take issue with illegal dumping on the roads
A section of residents in Kilimani, Nairobi have decried a rise in cases of illegal dumping.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, residents said piles of garbage can be seen in the neighborhood.
A spot check by our reporter showed garbage dumped along Dennis Pritt road and adjacent streets.
“Revelers who flock entertainment joints in Kilimani are notorious for dumping in the area,” John Pamba, a security guard, said.
According to residents, this has seen the drainage system along the major roads affected.
“The uncollected garbage dumped in various spots ends up in the drainage system,” Mercy Wambui, a resident, added.
Urging the relevant bodies to address the growing menace, they called for action against those found dumping.
“It is disheartening to see some motorists throwing garbage on the roads. It is unfortunate that this has become common practice,” Fred Onyancha added.
The residents voiced their concerns about a possible outbreak of diseases.
“This is more than just an eyesore. The smell emanating from the garbage is a health risk.”
Residents hope that the matter will be addressed promptly and those behind the unhealthy conduct brought to book.
