Kericho: Family spends night in the cold following fire incident

A family in Bureti, Kericho County spent Sunday night in the cold after their house was razed down.

The incident happened in Chebarema village located in Kabartegan location.

Family members led by Gideon Koech said the fire broke out when the family members were in church.

"The mysterious cause of the fire is yet to be established as we were not at home at the time," Koech said.

Villagers raised the alarm after they noticed a huge smoke billowing from the house.

This is not the first incident to be reported by the family this year. "My house was torched early this year. Another house under construction was also torched. My parents' house faced a similar fate," Koech lamented.

Members of the public attempted to put out the inferno but their efforts bore no fruit. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
