Kamukunji policeman narrowly escapes death after fellow cop shoots at him in love triangle

A police officer based at Kamukunji Police Station narrowly escaped death after a colleague tried to shoot him in a dramatic confrontation early Wednesday morning.

According to an incident report booked under OB No. 02/26/03/2025 at 0432 hrs, Police Constable (PC) Piro Mwarsho was on patrol in the Muthurwa area around 2:20 a.m. with colleagues PC Jin Ouma and PC Bernard Muroti, both from Muthurwa Police Post.

Mwarsho briefly excused himself to collect his mobile phone, which he had left charging at a bar.

At the bar, he encountered PC Emmanuel Juma, who accused him of having an affair with his girlfriend.

The confrontation quickly escalated when Juma allegedly slapped Mwarsho several times before cocking his AK-47 rifle (Serial No. 14088219) and firing a single shot. The bullet narrowly missed Mwarsho, piercing a metallic wall and tube grill.

A police officer familiar with the matter, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident.

“What happened is very unfortunate. Officers are expected to resolve personal matters without resorting to violence,” the source said.

Mwarsho managed to escape unharmed and reported the incident at Kamukunji Police Station.

Police officers from Kamukunji police visited the scene, but the spent cartridge was not recovered. PC Juma fled the scene but later surrendered and was placed in custody.

His rifle was secured as an exhibit, and investigations are ongoing. No injuries were reported in the incident.
