Kakamega: Body of man who went missing on Friday retrieved from a river

The body of a 45-year-old man who has been missing since Friday last week, has been retrieved from a river in Kakamega County.

John Opiyo Saleh, a father of 8, was diagnosed with mental health illness. Efforts to search for their kin as soon as he went missing were futile.

"Despite efforts to search for him in order to take him to hospital, it was all in vain," his son Kelvin Otoro and his sister-in-law Rose Osundwa told Citizen Digital.

"The deceased hails from Shitoto village in the Mumias East Constituency and worked as a construction worker," they added.

His body would later be found in River Lusumu following a search operation led by his family.

The body has been taken to St. Mary’s Mission Hospital mortuary in Mumias.
