Residents of Loita ward in Enturuto Narok South can now breathe a sigh of relief after the government officially approved a base transmitter communication tower as part of a project that involves 19 counties under the Digital Superhighway Connectivity drive

Speaking at the launch, James Ongwae, who is the chairman of the Universal Service Advisory Council under the Communications Authority, said that efforts have been made to ensure connectivity throughout the area.

Silas Mpoye, the deputy chief of Enturoto sub-county, said, “We are happy with the developments, becausethe lack of communication isolated locals from the rest of the country.”

John Ololkijabe and Parmaji Nampoye, residents of the area, called for more development projects in the area.

The funding of 3G communication under the second phase aims to improve modern communication services across the country, including 313 small locations across Narok County including schools, markets, hospitals, public areas and government offices.

Efforts similar to this will be carried out in other pastoralist counties such as Turkana, West Pokot, Samburu among others.
