Learning was paralyzed Monday morning after a security guard was found dead at a school in Kirinyaga County.
Gichugu police commander Johnson Wachira said the night guard was found dead at Mburi Primary School.
Residents said learners who reported to the institution early morning raised the alarm.
“Locals from villages in Njukiini arrived at the scene and alerted the area chief,” Mary Mwaniki told Citizen Digital.
Meanwhile, police said they are investigating the matter to ascertain the motive behind the killing and the subsequent arrest of those involved.
“The team from the county headquarters is investigating this incident in order to establish who killed the guard,” Wachira added.
Preliminary reports indicate that the guard might have been killed on Saturday night and his body dumped in one of the classrooms.
The unknown assailants made away with some bananas which they stole from the school.
The body of the 74-year-old man has been taken to Kerugoya Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
