Police in Kiambu have reported yet another suspected hyena attack on a person in Makongeni area in Thika.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) report, a resident on Monday found a fresh human skull at his farm in Kandara Investment Scheme and reported the incident to Makongeni Police Station.

Thereafter, officers drawn from the police and Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) visited the scene where they confirmed the said incident.

“A skull, scattered bones and torn bloodstained clothes were found; hyenas prints were also found at the scene,” read the DCI statement.

DCI has since implored residents to be vigilant as a probe into the issue is underway to eradicate the menace.

“We urge residents in the said areas to continue exercising caution and beware of the dangerous carnivores, whose attacks in their numbers are dreadful and deadly,” DCI noted.

The incident follows a similar occurrence where a 29-year-old man was mauled to death by a pack of at least 20 hyenas on his way home from Komu quarry in the region on Sunday.
