One of the families which lost their kin in the Mbooni accident on Saturday has narrated the events that led to the demise of their father and son.

The Machakos family witnessed the postmortem of their kin on Monday, which was done at Montezuma Monalisa Funeral Home, Machakos.

The father and two sons had gone to Mbooni to attend the wedding of his sister, but the patriarch and one son did not make it back after being killed in the accident.

The father Joshua Nzomo and son - Travis Muuo Nzomo,12, died.

The son who survived Berwin Baraka Nzomo, 10, suffered a broken toe and a scratch on the face.

The vehicle was overloaded and the driver said to be speeding.

Joseph Sila, the father of Joshua Nzomo, called for action to be taken against PSV operators who overload vehicles.

“It is disturbing to see drivers carrying excess passengers and the police take bribes for laws to be broken,” he said.

Nzomo’s widow, Winfred Kioko, narrated how she had spoken with her husband on the phone just a few moments before the accident.

The death toll from the accident is 12 people.

The PSV, which had a seating capacity of fourteen, had seventeen occupants when it crashed along Makueni County's Kikima-Kali-Machakos road.

Witnesses to the collision claim that the driver lost control of the car and rolled into a ditch off the side of the road.
