Two houses were torched at a village in Nyabeda sub-location, Yala sub-county, after the body of a seven-year-old boy was found dumped in the bush.

Irate villagers stormed the homestead of one Dominic Odhiambo, whose son they linked to the death of the seven year old, Michael Owino Alumba.

According to the Assistant Chief of Nyabeda sub-location Tom Aruwa, Odhiambo's son is a suspect in the boy's death.

The boy had gone missing on Wednesday evening and the body was discovered on Thursday.

Aruwa said that their preliminary investigations established that the suspect, Evans Odeny Odhiambo, 28, had allegedly been found stealing bananas at the farm of the deceased boy’s father and was warned to stop.

It is suspected that the man returned to the homestead and attacked the child.

A manhunt has been launched for the suspect as a postmortem is conducted.

The Assistant chief cautioned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands.
