Homa Bay: Residents count losses following heavy rains

Residents of Ringiti Island in Suba West Sub-County, Homa Bay County, are counting losses following heavy rainfall and strong winds that struck the area Thursday evening.
The adverse weather caused significant destruction, including the loss of roofs from various buildings.
Notably, two classrooms at Ringiti Primary School were severely damaged, leaving students without proper facilities for learning.
In addition, nine families were left homeless after their roofs were blown off, forcing them to spend the night in the cold.
Daniel Sure, the Secretary of the Ringiti Beach Management Unit, expressed concern about the extent of the damage.
The storm also impacted local places of worship, with roofs torn off from both Ringiti PEFA and SDA churches.
Residents have called on well-wishers to help repair the damages and support those affected.
