Residents of Nembu village in Gatundu South constituency were left in shock after a man vandalised his father’s grave in a fight with his siblings over land.
Peter Kagumu, alias Mau Mau, who has been entangled in a dispute with his other eight siblings, was arrested after he destroyed tiles and a concrete slab on his late father, Samuel Chege’s grave.
His siblings, led by Miriam Heta, said the grave had been refurbished by a local cleric, who leads a church where their father worshipped before he passed on in 2021, but Kagumu destroyed it.
Heta claimed the brother has been fighting the other siblings for control of the estate, including a three-acre parcel of land she says her father instructed be shared among his six daughters.
The family called on the authorities to intervene and help them solve the dispute.
